Excursions in Lanzarote

Hi all, this is my first visit to this web and I have found loadsa brill info for our upcoming hol to the Tabaiba Apartments Costa Teguise 28th June. Please can anyone offer advise though. Myself, partner and 16 year old daughter fancy a trip to the National Park of Timanfaya for a camel ride and see the geisers. We have seen a planned excursion that seems pricey and wondered if anyone had any advice as to how we could arrange a trip ourselves. Would be grateful for any advise and thanks in advance for any help received. Taz x

Either hire a car or find an alternative to the holiday company excursions. There are usually plenty of leaflets going about.

Hire a car and do it yourself. All the roads are signposted and you will get much better value for money.
If you're going to Timanfaya, make sure you go to the visitor centre down the road (left when you drive out of the park). It is really interesting and the simulated eruption is great - very loud thou!

I've never seen this, what is it called, sounds like I need to take my son there, he's 12 and fascinated with volcanoes. :)

Past the camel rides half way into the park on the right is the entrance to the bus tours around the volcanoes, the El Diablo restaurant, and the geysers, if you keep straight on the visitors centre is a way down this road to Mancha Blanca,it has loads of info about the volcanoes, simulated eruptions, as well as the instruments that monitor the volcano at the present time (if it goes off the chart while you are watching - RUN ) Robert your son will be in his element all you ever need to know about volcanic activity - a must see.

Be warned - the simulated eruptions are very very LOUD. Any child that is sensitive will NOT like it, but they can stand outside and hear it muted down. If the volcano ever goes off here again, your ear drums will blow before anything else!!!
