The Strip & Harbour Extension in Puerto del Carmen

I thought you might like an update on all of the work in Puerto del Carmen!

The Strip:

The road is still closed from the Fariones end, the holes are filled and it looks like just waiting for the top surface now, this section runs from the Playa Grande up to Centro Atlantico.

From Centro Atlantico to the Casino the work is almost finished, the road runs in the direction towards Matagorda, there are parking layby's on the left hand side and trees planted along the roadside.

Work hasn't started on the area from the Casino to the San Antonio hotel.

The Matagorda end of the road has already been completed.

Because the new coast road will only run in one direction, a new dual carriage way has been opened at the back of the resort, which runs the full length from Hospiten to Rancho Texas, this too has been planted with trees, has seating benches situated at regular intervals.

The Harbour:

The old harbour car park is closed but there is plenty of parking close to Playa Chica and you can walk the promenade around the corner. All of the restaurants are open and the normal boat excursions whilst they extend the harbour wall.

There has been alot of complaints from the local businesses regarding the work along the strip in PDC but it is going to be so much better when completed. Lets hope their ready in time for the carnaval in a months time!

I'm sure it will be nice when it's finished.
Have they made the pavements wider as well ?

Yes, the pavement on the shop side is wider and on the sea side of the road they are adding a cycle lane. It will look much better once finished its just all the mess whilst they do the work and the disruption to the businesses.
