Exclamation Shoping in Playa blanca

My impression of Playa blanca was very positiv until I went to the city to buy me a new still camera. There were at least 10 small shops for electronics. I went to a shop called " photo sattelite ". Here I bougth a camera, but after I had payed the camera, they sayed that it was a very bad camera and they offerd me another that was mutch better for the same price. The "camera specialist" , who did not no anythig about cameras , told me a lot of nonsens . I did not want another camera, but it appeared that they did not have the camera that they had sold me. Then the three indian working in the shop pulled me into the shop and started to threaten and insult me and my wife. I had to tel my wife to go out from the shop and fake a telephone call to the police in order to get my money back. This was a very unpleasent experience. Have enyone had a simular experience with electronics shops in Playa Blanca?

My advise is don't visit Photo Sattelite, they are just criminales.

It's not just in Playa Blanca though, there are as many shops like that in PDC.

I had a similar problem when I tried to buy a new video camera in Lanzarote. Mine broke while I was there and as quite a keen, albeit novice, photographer and film maker I really wanted to replace it asap. The shop assistant didnt really seem to know what they were talking about at all and became quite aggressive when I tried to question him! I think many places abroad can be a bit dangerous and I don't think I will ever try and buy anything electrical while I am away again!

sadly, this has been a problem in all Canary Islands and mainland Spain for many years. tourists are advised not to by electronics, as many retailers will rip you off. There are genuine retailers, but you need reilable inforamation to find out who they are. Sorry for your experience
