| re: Playa Blanca Gordon: I suppose every Internet forum has its quiet periods, and this one is certainly very quiet nowadays -- a shame, really, in view of the effort that goes into administering and maintaining it. (And no, I'm not going to ask "where have all the regulars gone?" because I used to be a regular myself, so I've only myself to castigate for not contributing here.) As to Playa Blanca, the glorified fishing village that we once knew is long gone and we know nothing, now, about its present-day guise as our haunts are far to the north in "old" Lanzarote. Hopefully, people who know modern PB will still be around on the forum, but if not, then you might like to check this Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playa_Blanca and, of course, TripAdvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowFor...y_Islands.html Hope this helps. |

| Hi Godon. I agree that PB is definitely not the little fishing village it once was, but it is still one of the quieter parts of the island. It is very spread out now with lots of developments, so it will depend on where you are as to how near the centre of the village you are. Re restaurants, it depends on what you're looking for. If you have children there are restaurants on the seafront in the village. I ate in Rocamar this year for the first time and it was really nice, and you can keep an eye on the children if you have them and they want to go on the beach. a more traditional restaurant is Los Hervedores, it's been there for many years. It's hidden away at the back of the village, but I'm sure someone can direct you. there are lots of bars and more english type restaurants at PLaya Dorada, a man made beach hlaf way between village and the new marina. You can get most cuisines in the village, indian, chinese etc. I personally would not go to Casa Pedro, I have always found the waiters unnfriendly and there is no wine list. As to karting, and that sort of thing, I don't know, as I tend to just flop, eat and sleep! Hope you love PB as much as I do, and enjoy your trip. Let me know if you want and other info and I'll try to help. Regards

| Playa Blanca Hi Griffo - whereabout is your villa? We've stayed in PB for the last 9 or 10 years in different villas and we love the area. Plenty of restaurants, we're veggie and there's still plenty of choice although we do eat the fish while we're there as it so delicious. There is a good restaurant in the harbour car park - quite cheap and generous portions. We like the chinese restaurants too on the sea front. Typico Canaria is really good, on the main street opposite the childrens play area. Some good coffee shops too, there's a little Dutch cafe on the sea front at the ferry end - fabulous cakes, and on the square by the Hipperdino supermarket there's a cafe with free wi fi and good cappucino!. Marina Rubicon is worth a visit, busy Chris |
