| Nice villages Hello, Can anybody help me please? I am coming over on the 24th of June and want to do a bit of exploring, can anybody advise me on any nice little towns/villages that would be worth a visit away from the main tourist routs. A few little shops and or bars/restaurant's to while away the time would be good. Many thanks, Russell. |

| It depends whether you have a car or not; if not, it may be a bit difficult as public transport is not great. Amongst the nicest places away from the tourist areas are Teguise (not Costa Teguise), Haría, and Famara particularly the last two. Teguise has a large Sunday morning market which attracts hundreds of tourists (and locals too), but the atmosphere is quite good. Haría has - if I rememebr - a Saturday morning market (best to check); and Famara has little other than sand, sea and surfers - very secluded. If you like walking then Yaiza is picturesque too, but not a lot else to do, and the hill village of Femés has some nice eateries, particularly Emiliano's which has a south west facing terrace where you can eat, drink and watch the sun go down over La Bocaina.
