Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca is probably the quietest of the holiday resorts on Lanzarote. It sits at the Southern most tip of the island and generally gets the best of the weather. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, clear blue, gentle water and amazing views across to Fuetventura and Lobos. The local ferry makes many crossings each day so can easily be enjoyed as a day trip.

If it is lazy days in the sun followed by a relaxing evening meal in one of the many international restaurants you enjoy, then this is the resort for you. Not much in the way of nightclubs and disco bars but lots of atmosphere wandering around the shops in the centre of town, stopping for a leisurely drink and some local food.

The new Rubicon Marina is now open and has a great selection of designer shops and waterfront restaurants. Ideal place to pass a few pleasant hours browsing the shops and having breakfast, lunch or dinner in a great setting. The marina also has a market on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings for those little trinkets and mementoes of your holiday.

Playa Blanca boasts several very safe, clean beaches including the Playa Flamingo, Playa Dorado and perhaps the most famous are the Papagayo beaches. You can get a water taxi there from the main harbour or very easy to find if you are driving yourself.

All of the islands many attractions are very easily reached from Playa Blanca and driving is a pleasure on their well made, well sign posted roads.

If you are wanting a chilled out, relaxing holiday as part of a couple or a family or even a single then this is the resort for you. The local sport is walking for miles along the pretty coastal path enjoying the changing views as you go. You will pass lots of watering holes along the way where you can take a break and people watch before venturing a bit further. Don't forget to watch a few sunsets while there-not to be missed.

Playa Blanca is my favourite holiday destination and I return 3-4 times a year and never tire of it. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I do-Happy Holiday!:sun

We went to the papagayo beaches a few times when we were in playa blanca last november, twice we walked it and the other times we got a taxi from the apartments which cost just under 4 euros each way, you mention the water taxi from the harbour, is it just a sight seeing trip or can you get off and stay the day on the beaches, if so how and where do you get off.

Thanks Steve

Hi Steve and :elcome to the forum.

The glass bottom boat goes to the Papagayo beaches from the harbour at Playa Blanca. Nice trip along the coast takes about 20 minutes I think. They then run you ashore in a little rubber dinghy type boat and pick you up later in the day.

Can't help you with times of boat or prices I'm afraid but sure our Bawbee could stop and find out for you next time he is racing through there on his bike!

Just found this for you.......

And in Marina Rubicon we recommend the ONE BAR, a sailors tavern behind the Lighthouse. A very, very special place. Good music, best service and family atmosphere. The music is one of the best selection. One meter far away from the arriving sailboats.
