Help! Bar Work Needed

Hi, My name is Hayley, i am 18 years old and have recently been made redundant. While i have the opportunity i am looking to move to Lanzarote for a few months (hopefully longer) to live and work. I need to secure a job before arriving at the end of January 2009. Please anyone that has any bar work or sales roles, i am a lively character and up for a challenge and learning new things. If anyone has anything that they feel maybe of interest to me please get in touch by emailing me on hayley_white97@hotmail.com

Also if anyone has been in my situation and has any advice then i would also like to hear from you

Many Thanks
I look forward to hearing from you

Hayley White

hayley,no one will give you a job until you are on the island.
bring enough money to cover yorself as it might be a while before you get fixed up.

I am trying to gather as much advice and stuff as i can before i get on the island.

I look forward to reply

i wish you the best of luck but its better to be realistic than find out youve made a big mistake after you are out here.
as you are 18 you might fancy pr work other than that your best chance is bar or kitchen work.
average rent is 500-700 euros a month but perhaps you could find someone to share with to cut your costs.
we have lived here 7 years and its often been tough..we had to return to uk twice, once when my wife was seriously ill,the other time we just ran out of money.loads of people are returning to uk because there are so few jobs going, also most of the work is cash in hand so you havnt got a leg to stand on if they decide to get rid of you.
once again good luck.

Hi,

Thank you your honesty

I have emailed some of the clubs asking for bar work. Most of my experienced is in Business to Business sales as a specilist sales recruitment consultant. I am in the process of contacting some companies in Lanzarote to find out whats out there.

I will not make the move if i feel i will not make it money wise so am doing lots of research first

Thanks

as i said before i doubt anyone will employ you until you are on the island and have a spanish phone contact number etc.
i will be suprised if you get many replies from your emails but dont let it put you off.
if you are into sales i would advise you not to bother with comission only jobs like timeshare or suncream sales they are a waste of time.
several people have tried to set up recruitment agencies here and all have failed as there just isnt the work to go around.
sorry to keep pouring cold water on it but its best in the long run!
