| I have recently helped my parents apply for the free social security cover for a retired person. The age is the legal retirement age for the UK ie. 60 for women and 65 for men.
Once you start receiving your pension which can either be paid to you here or in the UK, you need to ask the Pensions Office in the UK for a form E121 which tells the Spanish Government that you are officially a pensioner living abroad, and therefore entitled to free medical attention. It does mean, however, that you are giving up the right to free medical attention in the UK. Not too sure about the private health insurance cover, but there seem to be plenty people doing it, so it must work for them.
Hope this helps and Happy Retirement!! |
