Emma,
The common advice is to get enough money together to be able to stay over there for an extended holiday, maybe 2 months. Then whilst you’re there ask around in bars for work. Once you’re working you can then look for longer term accommodation and so slowly change from short term holidaying to longer term residency. Best time to look for work is probably end of spring as the busier summer months approach (I think).
Make sure you have enough cash to get through the first few weeks and to get a flight home if you decide it’s not for you.
Good Luck - Ole

The two of us came with 2,000 euros between us for 3 months

We're still here 7 years later, with a house and jobs.

Hiya

Can you give me some advice on how you succeeded in making the transition abroad. I have a friend who lives in Fuerteventura so ideally would like to try it out there as I know someone, however lanzarote is only over the water and wondered if it was easier to find work over there??

I have to sell my property here before I move as unable to rent it out so may not move until next year.

Anyone who can provide advice at all, please do so but be honest.

Thanks xx :-)
