Lightbulb solar energy breakthrough!

Spain has now accepted the feed-in law. This means energy-compagnies are forced by law to buy solar-energy from anyone producing this energy, at a fixed price, which is set for years.

I just came back from Lanzarote.
I noticed there are only a few solarpanels on the Island. The 9 windturbines only generate 1% of the energy needed. The rest is produced in a old polluting oil-based energy-plant.

In Germany they have the same feed-in-system and in the south of Germany this has led farmers to place solarpanels in disused fields, profiding them with a solid income for years to come.

During my resent visit I noticed that in the mountains there are all those disused terasses, once used for crops, now abandoned. These are perfect for solarpanels. I already got my work, but anyone who speaks Spanish and lives on the Island could make a fortune if they would start an energy-compagny and lease land from farmers, place solar panels and sell the energy. Thats what they are doing in Germany.

:)

El Hierro, Self Sufficient

I read recently that El Hierro will be self sufficient for energy within a year, they have a wind farm and plan to use hydro power to store extra energy until required. Lanzarote is reaching 5% of its required 20% by 2020 but they are working on it, the possibility of wave power or wind farms at sea is being investigated.
