Next year......

Once we get Xmas over and done with we will all start thinking about holidays again won't we?

Anyone got anything booked for next year yet? Will it be back to Lanzarote again or pastures new?

That's great Dave-something to look forward to through our dismal winter. I can't concentrate on next year yet but will put my mind to it once xmas is over.

I will be back for sure, will the arrival of an Easyjet service to Lanza drive the prices down to a more realistic level?

Certainly hope so as the air fares went a bit ballistic this year. Any idea what airports they will be operating from yet?

We can't work out from Easyjet's UK website just what it is, and is not, doing where UK - Lanzarote flights are concerned.

Easyjet always said Lanzarote was medium-haul and that it operated short-haul only, so unless we've completely misunderstood what Easyjet is on about now, it looks like it's offering a two-stage service, viz:

1) London Airports (Gatwick / Stanstead) to Madrid
2) Madrid to Arrecife

Not a feasible option for folks like us way Oop North.

If anyone knows any different, please let us know!

* PS: no sign of 'ballistic' flight prices coming down. Cheapest at the moment from UK regional airports is the Scottish outfit, Fly GlobeSpan. But that's definitely one airline we'll be steering well clear of, even if it does continue on in business in '08.

:elcome to the forum Drew.

Well you will find PDC a bit different to Orlando :lol but you are going at a good time of year. The weather should be very good then and there is a huge beach and lots of bars and restaurants so hopefully you will enjoy it.

We have a few veteran PDC holiday regulars on the forum, so any questions ask away and one of them will be pleased to help you.

Happy New Year everyone- hopefully we will be back in PDC next November and plan to try somewhere else in the spring. Thinking about Majorca, not the touristy bits but somewhere on the north east side that we have been told is good.

Hiya Drew, welcome to the site.

Are there any Turkish Restaurants in PDC ??

Erm no I don't think there is actually ? There's 2 kebab shops near Centro Atlantico and another by the Fariones Hotel, they're actually quite good but but I'm not sure if they count quite as restaurants

There's loads of other choices though.

Ole

Smile Back to Calero for fifth/sixth? time

Hi
Having had a disastrous week in Taba in November last year, we came back and immediately booked a week in April in Calero. Love it there; always get a car out on hire and tootle around the island, especially to the Sunday market in Teguise for the spices, a visit to La Era for scrummy food and to Playa Blanca for a bit of people watching. Last year we even walked from our hotel over the cliffs to Playa Quemada. The cold beer and garlic prawns we had for lunch whilst watching the sea just a few yards away never tasted better! We've tended to book March holidays, but last year found that it was too cold and windy at the beginning of the month, so have booked for April 24th this time. Already counting the days!
Regards

Hi Anne and :elcome to the forum.

Love going to Calero for lunch a couple of times while I'm there but think being based there would bore me. I like to stay in PB as enjoy the walk along the coast and popping in a few watering holes along the way.

I was there in March 2006 and just missed a big storm by a couple of days, and yes it was very, very windy so April should be much better for you.

Hi jackie H
Headed back to lanza again this July staying in los Pocillios. Found reasonably priced flights with Jet2.com from Leeds bradford, well a lot less than the existing carriers were going to charge from Belfast even though there is a stop off in Leeds for a few hours.

Hi Geoff

Where there's a will there's a way....as they say. So you've found a way and can start counting the weeks now.:lol

Have a great time and do let us know how it went after.

We love strolling along the coast at PB too, but, as we're increasingly displaying the distressing symptoms of old farts, we love the laid back atmosphere of Calero and knowing we'll have a great time at the always reliable hotel.

At home, it's blowing a gale, raining and grey and just makes me look forward to Lanzarote even more!

Regards

Anne :sun

Ditto the weather here Anne-really quiet depressing outside.

Which hotel do you stay in at Calero-is it the Iberostar or the Hesperia? Both get good reviews, must pop in and have a look next time I'm over.

One of those hotels, think Hisperia, has a Spa / pool / gym which apparently is great and you can use as a non-resident for I think around €15 a day. i know people who work in PDC and use it regularly.

Hello people. Nice to see some recognisable faces from years back.
Big Hi to the lovely Jackie, hope you are well.
After spreading our wings and trying some new places it's back to Lanza in April for the way2go family.
It almost feels like coming home.
