Property in Lanza

In yesterday’s Glasgow Herald property section I noticed an advertisement for ‘your house in the sun’ type of thing.

Opening the website I was pleased to find links for viewing property in Lanzarote.

What struck me, however, was the number of shops, bars and restaurants up for sale – especially around Costa Teguise.

Any information, or comments, anyone?

Although I have not been on the island for while it still has a place in my heart. I hope this is just ‘natural turnover’ - so to speak - and not an indication of a downturn.

Regards

McPhin

PS changed computers at home, as well as work, so that is why I’m McPhin3 now!

Hi Mcphin, I´m in CT at the moment, and I am surprised to see how many bars have gone, some new ones have opened, but, it is very quiet.
You will be pleased to know that Hooks are still around.:clap The Irish Fiddle is now a clothes shop, and the Castle has had a fire.

Hi Mcphin3-long time no see.

It seems to be a general downward spiral across the island by the looks of things. Few debates about it going on here......

Hello Peggy

Thanks for the reply.

* I'm jealous your there - it's miserable here
* Cannot say the castle burning down was a bad thing
* Have a cocktail in Hook's for me - is it the same people running it?

Regards

mcPhin

Yes, see the discussion Jackie has posted a link to, it's quite a well debated topic amongst the posters there, most whom are residents so live amongst these issues.

Cheers - Ole

The British Carvery has closed as well, but Spuds British cafe is still going. I went there last Tuesday, but it was her day off, typical.

(Cute doggie Dave_O, in your signature!!! You know I love our little canine friends!!!)

Yes, the subject of Lanzarote on a downturn is up for huge debate. There are those that are insistent that it's in a slump - but then a number (not all) of those are people that are happy to moan about anything! There are a large number of venue owners who are actively marketing their business, and are doing very well out of it - instead of sitting there on their own squinneying about it.

We moved here last year, and are doing very well. Business is booming, and our friends and associates are very happy... which is great!

Yes, a large number of bars and restaurants are up for sale here on the Island - but then a lot of these people are happy and just want their options kept open.

If in Costa Teguise, then do go and say hello to Madge and Smiggy at Smiggy's... as well as Wullie at the Highlander. Oh, and our pals Michael and Kevin at the Lively Lady will give you big giggles. And don't forget to have a really good brekkie at Coffee and Cream! It's only €2.90 and it fills me and hubby right up! Ooh, and you could go get yourself a pampering at the Costa Teguise Salon too!

You know what needs to happen? Everyone on this forum to treat themselves to another holiday to Lanzarote this year and put lots of euros over the bars lol! Oh ok... maybe we all have to wait for euromillions ;-)

I was talking to Jude in the British Cafe and she is very positive and is indeed doing something about it. As Elle says have a look at Lively Lady's, a fun night. I would go with along with another holiday in Lanzarote.:clap
