The Most Bizzare Request

Morning Guys and Girls!

Well I've been home from Lanzarote for a week now and I had the best holiday of my life. It was perfect in everyway. The island is gorgeous, the people are so friendly and the weather was fantastic.

If I'm truly honest i've fallen in love with the place!

Now then, the request....

We were staying in Playa Blanca and every night we would walk along the sea front near enough to the Marina Rubicorn and then walk balk before having a meal. Then from there walked back some more to the Irish Anvil for a few drinkys!!!

On the route to the Anvil from main town you walk through where the Ferry docks and there is a childrens fair ground ride. It's 4 bulls in a row that move around. Anyway, the whole point of the thread is that I am trying to get hold of the tune that they play when there is people on the ride!

I was gonna record it on my phone but totally forgot. It's like a cowboys and indian thing....starting oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi....etc

If anyone is out there in Lanza and has a phone with them, can they record it and send it to me PLEASE!!! It's just sheer quality and we danced many times in drunken stupers to it!

Any help much appreciated

Cheers

Paul aka Nobber

OH NO !!! NOT THE BULLS MUSIC !!!!

They're ledgendary in the Ole family !

It's a simple yet classic Fair Ground ride, always seems to be the most popular for both participants and spectators.
Unfortunately due to my glass back I stick to spectating !

Glad to hear you enjoyed Lanza, hope it wasn't just the Bulls !

Cheers Ole

Enjoyed Lanza way too much to be honest!! We never rode the ride, just danced like idiots and sang the song for the rest of the night once it was heard! :lol :lol :lol

The car well, that's Lennie the Leon! He's a Seat Leon Cupra R. Had him for over a year now, since new and he's a hoot to drive. As for performance well....errr I dunno really!

He's a 1.8 20v Turbo. Iv'e seen and indicated 150+mph on the speedo, private roadof course and gets to 60 in about 6.5 I imagine. Not 100% sure really.

Previous to Lennie I used to own an Ibiza Cupra R. He looked like this:

Is there no one in Lanza right now, in PB that could pop me over a .wav file of it? Maybe someone from the Wax bar maybe?!?

Cheers

Thanks Dottie!

I must admit to upsetting a Golf R32 Driver in the ibiza! Was an amusing tale as I had a mate of mine following in his car, and his dad behind him in a Leon Cupra R too!!

Was great fun!

Hey! This is fast turning into the Lanzarote Forums Car Lovers thread!

Well I've bought a new one today to add to my collection!

A Mercedes SLK 200K Tip Coupe Cabriolet.

Goes nicely next to my 4.6L V8 MG ZT ;)

The only sad thing is that Nobbers gets sunshine nearly every day on his pride and joy. Mine are stuck in cold grey drizzle at the mo :shkhd

4.6L - Engine size
V8 - Number of cylinders
MG ZT - Type of Car.

It's 260 bhp and does 0-60 in 6 secs.

Hope that helps ;)

Funnily enough I was having a similar conversation last night with some one who claimed to have done 175 mph on the M6 toll in some sort of souped-up M3. (oh yea !)

He didn't quite understand when i asked him why does he have to spend all that money on fast cars, why doesn't he just leave a bit earlier ?

Ole

My original post seems to hav disappeared, but as a car nut I have to be part of this conversation. The original post said "MY money would be on the R32 anyday, 250 BHP versus 180BHP."

Fascinated that you bought a ZT Willow. Always been a fan of big lazy RWD V8's I guess it's a car that's quite easy to get very sideways?

So, has anyone else out there got interesting or unusual cars?

So - it's the only ZT with rwd Willow? Sounds a beast!!

We have a VW Sharan Carat VR6, a BMW 318i and a VW Passat 1.9tdi (the dog/shopping wagon!)

When I was competing in hill climbs, sprints and sand racing(back in the 70's :yikes ) I drove a Lotus Super 7, a Ford Anglia with a lotus twin-cam engine & fibreglass bodywork, an Escort Mexico with a souped-up engine + split diff, an E-Type, Lotus Elan and a Vauxhall Firenza ~ at different times and in different events! My fave, and the most competitive, was the Mexico :)

I think all the V8 ZT's were rear wheel drive. The V8 can't go under the bonnet sideways!

I'm a major fan of the VR6 engine, had a Corrado, a couple of Golfs, a Sharan and a Bora with it. Would dearly love to buy the new Multivan here with the VR6, but can't afford it just now.

Blimey Dottie - Mexico, Firenza (droop snoot), etc brought back memories of cars I used to covet when a kid! There was nothing cooler on the streets than and white Mk1 Mexico with the blue stripes!!

:cry Oh Angie!

:) Mike-the droop-snoot was a looker but a lumbering pain at low speeds! Once you had made your way through the gear-box tho she came into her own! Only did 2 comps with her, then used her for a trip to Lake Garda and then sold on.

The Mexico was bronze with black stripes and a black fibre-glass bonnet with butterfly clips to keep it on! Also had an RS2000 (pale blue with dark blue stripes) but still preferred the Mexico.

Those were the days ;)

Going to bore everyone to death now! For me that era was all about Mini's. I had a 998 Cooper, a 1071S and finally a British Leyland Special Tuning 1390 CC S, which had about 140 BHP. It was a fantastic little car, incredible handling and very very fast. It had been "tarted up" by Harold Radford for the first owner (in Jersey) and had leather, wood, Magnesium minilites etc. It was reregistered in UK as OEL 222P when I bought it. If I'd only kept it, it would be worth a fortune today!

Yeah the V8 ZT is rear wheel drive. They had to re-engineer the whole car because you can't put 260bhp through front wheel drive. It cost MGR millions to design but they only ever sold 900 before going bust!

My other car is a Ford Cougar 2.5L V6. Love it! It's now worth so little it's not worth selling. I also have a MGZT 190+.

I love cars!! The SLK takes me to 4 now! ;)

My very first car was a Singer Chamois,a litle rust bucket, but I thought it was sleek and wonderful.

Well I can promise you hole heartedly, that 250bhp wasn't enough! He even came back to where we had stopped and had a good chat with us!! He was oustanded my mates Nova! (Corsa A in Europe)

Don't get me wrong though, it's a gorgeous car the R32. Over priced imo, but with the V6 lump and the 4x4 Haldex system it weighs as much as bus!!!

I've got a Rover Coupe with a Honda engines. It's nearly 10 years old now, but I love it. Only problem is, I'm quite short, so I don't have long enough arms to put the sunroofs back on properly (that's Mr C's job)). Wasn't good though, one day I set off on the M1 in sunshine, then the sky went black and it started to rain - was a bit stuck!!!

Also got a sensible Honda Accord for taxi-ing the boys around.
