MY Trip - WOW

Hola Forum Members & guests

Just though I would share my experience on the wonderful isle of Lanzarote. Just recently spent two weeks there – Jan 12 –26.

The weather was’t as good as I was hoping for, only spent 3 days of 14 worshiping the sun .. but ..then perhaps if it was nicer we wouldn’t have explored as much of the sialnd as we did. I think we traveled the entire island twice !!

Los Herviderso, El Golfo .. incredible to see the black lava meet the blue ocean.

Timanfaya National Park – incredible.. what alandscape, who knew mountains could be soo colorful. The natural grill – cool – I mean HOT! The views were stunning, and I liked the fact that they had tour coaches so as to preserve the landscape for future generations to enjoy.

Camel ride – short, but very interesting .. I think the camel behind me had a crush on me!!

Sampled the wine of the La Geria region. HONEY RUM .. my new favourite. Hopefully someone exports this to Canada. Also Guarapa .. liquid Viagara ..not sire about that, but was good and took home a little bottle of that too.

The view from Mirador del Rio – stunning ..there was a beautiful rainbow that day, hanging over the island f La Graciosa, caught with the camera !!

The caves were also interesting .. thought I think I prefer the Green Caves, more for the eye to see .. and the illusion at the end .. took my breath away, even after I knew …Though the geological museum at James del Aqua was very fascinating and educational.

Cesar Manrique … what can you say .. what a talented artist and visionary. Though it must have been very interesting/frustrating to work with him .. he definetly had his opinions. Though the Lanza that I feel in love with is a direct result of him .. I believe. The Jardin de Cactus .. incredible, who thought one could take soo many pictures of cactus. His house – WOW – can just imagine living and entertaining in there !

Went to Teguise marker – twice – once just to look – second time to get what we saw the first time.

Arrecife – went to ALL the shops – oh to be young and skinny again. Visited the Castille de St Jose and saw the Comtempary Art Musuem and looked at the restaurant. Visited the Castillo San Gabriel and of course went to the Gran Hotel for a beverage and the view !!

Did the boardwalk both ways – to Arrecife and to Playa del Carmen. Shopped the strip in Playa del Carmen and watched the sunset one night from the Café de Ola. Beautiful.
Of course had to check out the nightlife. Experienced Paradise, Big Apple, Hippodermo ( ?? ), Ache ( my fav – salsa ), Charlie’s, American Indian Café and of course 928. Staying open till all hours of the morning .. very dangerous !!

My Favourite memories of Lanza will be;

The staff at out Resort( Coral Beach Resort in Playa Honda ) - amazing, friendly, helpful and great FUN

SUNSETS – different every night

Mercedes Benz for cabs – in Canada only the wealthy drive those.

I would strongly suggest everyone visit the island at least once. I hope to get back there sometime in the future ..though there is a whole BIG world out there is see and experience.

THANKS LANZA FOR ONE GREAT TRIP.

Canada Girl

great ! Glad you enjoyed it CanadaGirl and thanks for the report. Eveybode has different opinions and likes or dislikes lanza for different reasons so it's good to read reports like yours - ta. (any picceis to go with it ????)

And the sunsets are great aren't they, they're not just different every night, but the light changes at each stage as the sun goes down.

Ole
