Music / concerts / gigs!!

Hi everyone

would like some info into live music on the island
could all you Lanza lovers let us all know where to go
for a good selection of live music??

I regularly look at the local "mags" but they dont as yet say much about music venues..........

all tastes and styles required....

Charlie's bar in PDC is the best place I've found, but it's a bit samey if you go on a few nights.
There's also a Jazz bar in PDC Old Town (if it's still there) which has a variety of different stuff.
On special occasions they have open air concerts in the Old Town, but I haven't really enjoyed the ones I've seen.
El Campesino is a tiny spanish bar open in the evenings with a resident guitarist / singer (and the owner doubles as a 'stick' player !). It's not the best music in the world, but is mostly traditional Spanish and is extremely welcoming and with a genuins Spanish ambience (Calle Bernegal, first right up Cardiac Hill).

Other than that I'd say Lanza isn't really the place to go for Live Music.

Ole

When we went last February Buleria's in Costa Teguise had just opened, they had live music 4-5 times a night from Spanish to pop and rock, close by was The Secret Garden, the owner played guitar and sang,if they are still going you will find them opposite the Los Coronas apartments in the Playa Bastion area.

thanks to you all

sounds like we will have to venture out and have a butchers....

as for going "home" to get a fix..........

my daughter invited me to go back and see "AHA" in December
they were brilliant she says.......... perhaps not quite what I had in mind but then not sure I can be that choosey :cry

Van the man was in the canaries - now that I would have loved to have seen...........

what are the "tribute" acts like???

I was a huge Tina Turner and Queen fan....... any gooduns about?

looking forward to Lanzaid this year - we didnt get to see all of it... as that was the day we became home owners on Lanzarote
a most stressful day - but never regretted for 1 minute

I would love to know somewhere to see original bands.

There must be some on the island?

I'm fed up of hearing rubbish "singers" playing sweet home alabama and brown eyed girl.:sigh

Hopefully I will get my band sorted soon and we can get playing.

Speaking of which, I still need some more members.

I want to form something kind of '90's sounding. And I don't mean an oasis tribute:tongue

kind of a cross between Kula shaker/stone roses/supergrass/verve and a hint of originalty (is that a real word?)

I may have a singer sorted.

The Band in the American Indian bar is apparently called ‘Question’ and the lead singer is called Oliver.
I’ve heard that they’ve bought the bar next door and are extending into that, I don’t know if that’s underway yet ?
I’m not much of a Tina Turner fan, but last Aug there was an Irish girl in Charlies doing a stint as an Tina Turner impressionist / tribute. She was actually really good, just a shame it was Tina Turner ! She also used to sing the odd song with the band as ‘herself’. I think she took her show to other bars as well, but I’m not sure.
Ole
P.S. Coolair, I don’t think that is a word, but originality is ! :giggle

question!!!!! that was what I was trying to think of,god it's not bloody hard is it? told you I was blonde!!!! ta ole
they are good tho, just a bit samey after a while.
your idea sounds great tho coolair, def on the stone roses thing, they actually recorded one of their videos here in the early ninties,on fire mountain,it's quite atmospheric!! now that is a big word for a small girly!!:giggle
there used to be some great bands in costa about 6/7 years ago ,but the need for music licences meant a lot of the bars had to stop live music, which is a real shame, cos now all the singers sound like they should be in the CIU !!!!!! :lol
and before I get hate mail I was only joking!!!! no dummies spat out from the singing community por favor!!:wsnm
