Lanzarote in December

Hi!

I'm going to Lanzarote this Christmas, and I know my questions have been asked before, but still....i'd appreciate answers.

Is it usually warm enough to swim and to get some tan?
I'm coming from a snowy country, and hard to believe that somewhere in the world right now you wouldn't have to wear winter coat and shoes. I'm not even sure what kind of clothes to bring with me.

Thanks for answering back...

Pools are generally very cold so I wouldn't recommend swimming, although some people do.

It's warm enough to get a tan and you will still need to wear sun cream.

Shorts and t-shirts are fine for during the day and I'd take a cardigan with me at night.

Have fun.

Hi Tenna,, I will also be there for xmas and have been for the last 20 years,, You can never say about the weather,, last year was lovely but we have had a few bad years too,, so its just fingers crossed.. But I would say its not warm in the night so make sure you take a cardi :)

Regarding the pool,, there are lots of heated pools so as long as yours is, it is usually warm enough to swim

...actually...i meant swimming in the ocean :) i've been dreaming for that kind of a vacation for the last couple of years ... but i guess now i shouldn't even ask if swimming in the ocean in December is possible :)
i guess for that i'd have to go back there in summer

Hi Tenna,

Don’t be disappointed as for being able to swim in the ocean because there's many winter days of plenty of sun shine were it is possible to take a dip in our lovely ocean and you’ll see a lot of other people on the beach having a swim!

So don’t forget your bikini because I'm sure you’ll be using it!

If the sun is out and its warm enough the sea is warmer than an unheated pool.. My kids went in the sea last year so fingers crossed!

we havent been to lanza for 2 years now but we went in january for a few years. we always got good weather in the day, hot enough to get a tan on the beach. its always a bit windy in lanza, especially on the beach(thats why they have the wind surfing championships there). the locals say its cold for them and wear coats etc while the turists walk around in their summer gear, sweating.one year i went to reception for something and the receptionist had her hat, coat and scarf on and was sitting in front of an electric fire!!!!!!!! i had shorts, tee shirt and flipflops on and was covered in sun cream:sigh
it gets a bit cool at night but if you take a jumper or something warm you will be fine. dont go mad and take your duffle coat, you wont need it.
you can always find a beach webcam on the net and watch the live weather as people flock to the beaches.
i cannot put a webcam link on here as it will be deleted by admin person
