Famara

With it being my first post, hello!!! I hope to share some info as well as learn a few more things about the Canaries...

Can you tell me how far Famara beach is from Arrecife airport, and whether you can catch a bus from Costa Teguise to Famara beach?
I had a look on the lanzarote.com/bus timetable but didnt see a route (unless it goes through Famara onto a further destination)
:woo
Many thanks!

Famara beach is on the opposite side of the island to Arrecife, about 20km away.

Famara is fairly isolated, there's nothing much close by in terms of large towns and it's not on the way to anywhere really so it's unlikely any bus will be passing through unless it's specifically going to Famara - and as you say I don't think there is a service there.

The currents there are dangerous for swimmers but it's a great beach with stunning views.

Famara or also known as Caleta de Famara is approximately 25km from the Capital (Arrecife).

The local buses leave from The Arrecife Bus Station, (you can get there on the more regular bus line: Costa Teguise – Arrecife – Pto. Del Carmen every 20min more or less!) The bus route to get to Famara is Arrecife – Soo – Caleta de Famara. As you can see this bus takes you on a little detour but it’s a great way to see the Island.

Time table:
Leaving Arrecife: 7.45am -13.30pm- 16.00pm & 20.00pm.
Leaving Famara: 7.00am- 8.40am- 14.15pm- 17.00pm & 20.45pm.

Hope this info. is useful to you! And Famara is definitely a “must visit” on the Island. Best for Surfing, Kite-surfing or just to sit around and have a drink or tapa!
