| This forum's gone so quiet I'm beginning to think many of the former posters are either all living in Lanzarote now or have retired from active service here. I've no idea what the cost of a meal or a pint is on Lanza because I haven't been since early in the New Year, since which time the £ has dropped considerably against the Euro. It may be that some bars and restaurants have recognised this but then again, if they're not dependent on UK holidaymakers, there's no reason why they should. In France this summer we saw a nigh-on 20% reduction in our buying power compared to the year before. As the Euro continues to be as absurdly over-valued as the £ was in recent years (against the $ dollar) then you're going to have to accept that neither in Lanzarote nor anywhere else in Euroland are things going to be cheap. Hopefully, some of the regulars who actually live on Lanza and know the kind of prices being charged now -- though to be honest, there's no such thing as an average price any more than there's an average meal -- can be more specific. We've been away from the island for the longest time this year due to travel commitments and holidays elsewhere, so when we return next week for a month's sojourn it could well be an eye-opener for us. Still, we're biased; Lanza to us is a place well worth paying for. |

| you can still get a large beer for 1.50€ at a couple of places, average price is still about 2.50€ if you leave the irish bars out. some places have put cost of meals up slightly but its not too bad. |
