Pharmacies:Strict on prescriptions??

Hi All
First post here!
Myself and the family are heading to Puerto Del Carmen in May and we were there about 5 years ago when we were able to get some precription drugs over the counter.
Unfortunately one of my sisters has to take Xanax for anxiety attacks and i was hoping Ii could get them over the counter still as it works out a lot cheaper than here in Ireland.
Have the Spanish tightened up the law regarding this or is it still relatively simple to get prescription drugs?
Many thanks!:wave

Amilo if your sister depends on Xanax for her health then it makes sense for her to ensure she has plenty of them with her rather than depend on trying to save a couple of euro's by buying them locally.

If on arrival she finds they are available then she can purchase some to take home with her if they are used regularly.

Fortunately my sister does not "depend"on Xanax, her anxiety attacks are not a daily occurrence and as she herself isn't traveling to Lanzarote she wouldn't have to be depending on getting them there(and it would be rather foolish for anyone to go abroad without their medication).
I merely asked the question as a way of saving her a few € as drugs can be rather expensive in Ireland and it really isn't a matter of life or death. From your reply Jackie H you obviously couldn't answer my original question but many thanks for your "input".

Hi amilo, This is mainly a holiday forum, most members on here live in the UK, you need a forum with more locals who can answer your question, I do hope you find the answer, and have a lovely holiday.:wave

Hi Peggy! Many thanks for your reply.Yes i have questioned it on another forum and just thought someone might have experience of purchasing prescription drugs in Lanzarote due to the savings that could be made.
As you say if most are from the UK you don't have to purchase as many prescription drugs due to getting them free on the NHS!
