Exclamation Hello From Webby

Hello All

I'm your new forum administrator and I'd like briefly to introduce myself to you. I'm old and wise, and have lived in Lanzarote for many years.

I'm not here to be famous or to promote a business - I'm here to ensure fair play, to help all of us get the best out of the forum and to delete Spam!

So let's all work to get this forum buzzing again, with interesting comment, lots of news and great photos!

I look forward to reading your posts!

Webby :wave

:rofl Get a grip Michelle! Putting a sig which is internal link to a site you're already on can hardly be construed as promoting the business!

.....and there was I hoping my first reply would be something along the lines of "Welcome!"

Hi Tracey

Thanks! The forum has been a little strange lately - I've been watching!

I'm now the only admin on here - the people you mentioned may well still visit and post, but they won't be moderating in any way - just me, so be gentle please!

Hello Ted. I agree that this was a great forum at one time and it seems to have withered a little recently. But, if we can all post interesting stuff and generate good debate, I'm sure we can recreate that old atmosphere. After all, there are still close to 3,000 members out there....somewhere.

Hi Webby and :elcome to the forum.

As you say, it used to be great and very active-lets hope we can resurrect it before it's too late.

Hello!

Hi Webby

:elcome ;) ;) ;)

Hope you can pull this forum around - it was the first one I joined, and lots of people like Jackie H and Peggy were very friendly and gave me some cracking advice. Recently, it seems to have gone through some very strange times recently :sigh so the very best of luck!

Maybe I can start the ball rolling - with the euro being the same value as the pound now, Egypt and Turkey seem to be attracting a lot more people. What can Lanzarote do to entice people back? With the current economic situation, I'll be lucky to get away anywhere :cry :cry :cry

But Anne...it seems Eygpt and Turkey holidays have increased enormously in price this year as they jump on the band wagon in order to cash in on the bad Euro rate-so will they work out cheaper in the long run?

Webby - speak to me!

Sorry it's taken so long to answer Jackie. My home computer automatically logs me on to this site, but at work it doesn't. I've twice requested my password but had no reply :sigh
Webby could you email or pm me please?

As far as what we were discussing - every holiday I've seen has seemed to increase in price - every company screams about bargains, but I don't think they are offering anything of the kind:tft Anyone know any different?

Hi Anne

I can't see your password, I'm afraid. But here are a couple of alternatives for you:

1/ Log in on the PC where you can do so, go to User CP and you can change your password.

2/ I can change it for you, if you want me to, PM me the new password.

Welcome Webby

I'm delighted that your arrival might revive this forum.

I for one don't mind seeing users links in their sig. It let's us know who they are and what they represent. There's loads of Brits on Lanz with their own businesses and having them posting on the forum would be a big plus I think. However it would need policing to stop abuse!

Nice to be back.

Willow.

@Ole Male, Too near 50, Arrecife, Webby.
@Dave O. Not sure about the links - will investigate.
@Iluvlanz I recall there were big issues with the daily weather forecasts, so they won't be reappearing. Closest to actual seems to be at bbc.co.uk believe it or not!
@Willow I agree about links, and they are permitted here. My view is that as long as people are contributing to the forum, they can discreetly advertise their businesses, and as you say, helps us to know who they are and where they are coming from.

Wink Hi Webby

Hi webby, :elcome

New admin, new broom, hope it breeds an update of info as I have to agree that there has been little to interest most, with the exception of the input of people like Jacie H and willow who are allways quick to respond.

I join the others in wishing you well.

Regards,

Kentboy.

Thanks for the welcome Kentboy. At the end of the day, then forum is driven by the people who post here, so hopefully more and more people will come and post interesting stuff on the site.

Welcome to Webby!:xs7

Right. First thing.

Email alerts relating to "strange things going on in this forum" and "recent issues" MUST be emailed out immediately to all members otherwise they will never know wot they missed.

I never saw any issues or strange goings-on. It's all very depressing.

Next. No-one who is too close to 50 can be old. Wise, possibly. But 50? A mere kid.

Next.

Ah. I've forgotten what's supposed to be next.

Must be age.

Also I've hit the wrong icon somehow further up. This never happened when the £ was strong and we still had an Empire.

I'm still a bit sceptical about all these admins coming and going and whos who. For now I'll offer a polite nod in you direction.
