Exclamation * Forum targeting *

After what happened last year, hopefully this superb forum isn't in the sights of another maniac. Or the same one who hacked the site before.

However, I'm deeply suspicious of a "personal message" that has not only been to my current forum ID. . .

But to a quite different ID registered long before this one came into being, the reg details of which I lost prior to the hack and so had to junk.

Either a certain individual with an innocent desire to work through every single member of this forum and send 'em a PM saying "Hi, I'm new here!" really does have many an hour to spare / waste, or someone's developed a script to target the Members list.

Advice: if you've received a personal message from a new member with a female Christian name, ignore it and certainly don't open the innocent-seeming link.

Above all: do not reply.

Thanks bawbee.

Incidentally -- the only reason for raising this in a post was because I'd earlier sent two emails to t'webmaster but only got this back:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<webmaster@lanzarote.com>:
66.98.192.53 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550 <webmaster@lanzarote.com>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table
Giving up on 66.98.192.53.

Unwanted approach

Hi

Yes, I had an unwanted email from this person. I'd got one from her on a completely unrelated forum last year, and she's been removed from that as well. Obviously didn't open the link. Don't know what they hope to achieve; it only alienates people. I feel the same about people knocking on the door.:nono

Blimey, so have I! :omg

Heading is re GillianW2.

I haven't opened it, but am glad I read this first as I probably would have done.

I agree with Anne, but I feel the same way as that about cold calls on the phone. I am heartily sick of offers on insurance and phone deals, mainly from people who cannot speak English properly! So much so that I now have the land line unplugged almost all the time and use only my mobile.

Annoying :swear though that we are driven to these measures.

Nuisance!

Oh don't get me started! We're ex-directory at home, but still get unsolicited calls from our credit card companies, bank etc trying to sell us stuff we don't need or want. We have the answerphone on permanently so that we can screen calls.
At work, I've lost count of the telephone line and call suppliers, water machine sellers and business advisors who have called and assured me that they can change our lives. I know everyone has to make a living, but no-one takes a polite no for an answer :bnghd

Thank you very much.

:wow brilliant - it's almost like being reborn or something!!!

To think I will now be able to make calls without keeping an eye on the clock the whole time - my mobile contract has only 250 minutes a month and let's face it -what use is that when you are a chatty lady? :sigh

You're welcome Gillian. When I did it they told me it would take about 3 months to fully kick in, so stick with it if you continue to get a few meanwhile.

Gillian said that she had unplugged her land line and was using her mobile so I guess now she can plug it back in save her minutes.

Keith.
