With the recent events in the Uk, and particularly Glasgow Airport... are private cars allowed to get close to the terminals at Gatwick at the moment? I have a friend collecting me in the early hours of the 17th, and dropping me back off again early hours of the 18th. Not too much of a problem arrivng, but I'll have teenagers in tow on the way back... and would like to be able to walk pretty much straight in.
Anyone know?

Hi Miss Elle!
I believe the drop off area outside departures is off limits, but the multi story car park opposite should be okay. Not too far to walk from there even for a teenager!!
Try avoiding arriving in a 4x4 if you can!!

p s. did you here the name of the driver of the car at Glasgow, Dr Singh Majeep.:sry

Thaks Ted. Tonyp in Lanzarote Island is a cab driver - and he's said I'll be fine when I land fo being picked up (which is great as I don't want to be wanderig around in the dark alone)... but that's okay fr drop off. the boys will do as they're told lol - which involves carrying my case too!

It might be too late to help you this time, Elle, but I recommend a firm for airport cars (unmarked taxis) - Lanzarote Rent a Car - being airport based, they can give you uptodate information on the 6 UK airports they cover, which include Gatwick, Birmingham and East Midlands amongst others. Cars could no longer drop off outside Departures at East Midlands, for security, but this firm have access through the barriers as they are based there, so are REALLY convenient! The other thing is that they charge the same rate around the clock, so arriving in the early hours wouldn't bung their charges up :-)

Sure am! Do you ever miss the UK? How often do you go back?

No I don't miss the UK at all. Friends and family are all in a position to come here to visit... and that would have been the only big thing. There were of course a couple of little things I missed... like lemon curd, and hubby misses his steak and kidney puddings. But you can get all these things here, for a price. Plus friends always top up their cases with the little essentials. it's not as if they need to pack towels, hairdryers etc... as we have it all here for them.

We try not to go back very often at all (thinking weddings & funerals)... but we needed to get the lads over for the summer - so I flew back to pick them up. Alan will be taking them back at the end of the summer.
