| hello everybody!!! where are all the posts gone?! there was more! well, i'm in here, because - like everyone of you - i fell in love with lanzarote:). absolutely the best island in the world (i'm not british;)). now i'm planning to visit lanza again in december (second half). i'm looking for a nice place to stay (flat to rent or sth like that) for about 10 days for two people. me and my girl we are planning to move to lanza for good and we have to visit our friends there first (a big surprise it's gonna be - therefore we don't want to stay at their homes this time) and take a look at the job market. i'd be very thankful for any tips on this manner. best regards from cloudy warsaw polaco

| Welcome Polaco, Try Angie at Lanzarotelates.com. Could be mistaken, but I'm sure she has a one bedroom place at the Atlantic Gardens complex in Playa Blanca that would suit. If it's another part of the island, googling will throw up plenty results. Good luck, |

| Hi Ole and Folks! Thanks for advices! Ole your Polish is excellent!:) to be exact, you write wiwat and say vivat;) it's an old word, almost not used anymore, so I suppose you know some older Poles or British-Poles? maybe a flyer? there was this 303 Division at the British Air Forces (sorry if the name is incorrect) during WW II, and even Churchill himself said about them sth. like "Never before so few did so much for so many". That was really nice of him. But later Stalin (he called Churchill "capitalist bulldog", but he should take a look into the mirror himself) "bought" half of Europe (iron wall) and we had to wait until 1989 for democracy and free market, and that's the reason Poland's got 20 per cent unemployement nowadays... and "murder-capitalism". an employee has his rights, but the courts work too slow, the law is like cheese (full of holes) and if you mention anything about your rights for sth. at work, they answer "well, we have the right to fire you...":) more less that's Poland today. beautiful and sick at the same time. lots of great people, but none of them has influence on this country's situation. but let's talk about sth. more nice - football!!!!!:) Poles in Premier League? Only a few, but good. Tomasz Kuszczak ("cooshtshack" - try to say that and don't get crazy:)) is currently 2. golie at Man Utd. and we're proud of him. he's really talented. Dudek from Liverpool got old and I don't think he'll come back. There is also young Bialkowski from one of the weaker clubs, he's waiting for his comeback (was injured for few months) - also a hope for the future. And finally Cywka (at last somebody from outside the goal!:)), but he's 18 first, so we'll have to wait a little. The best English players for me are Lampard, Joe Cole, Rooney and Steve G. Beckham? I think his wife plays as good as him;) He WAS good. And the most underestimated English player is Scholes. He's very good! You only haven't had any good goalies since Shilton, but nobody can have everything;) and by the way - Schmeichel's mother is... Polish:) well, that was too much and oof the topic:) won't happen again; na zdrowie everybody! |

| Yes, Thomaz Kuszak, I saw him play for United earlier in the year against Arsenal, he saved a penalty but then we still got beat 0-1. As for English players, well I’ve got to say that Steve Gerrard for me is the best by quite some way, Lampard has not been quite so good this last 12 months and Rooney still has some improving to do. Scholes is brilliant, I’ve been lucky to have seen him play for over 10 years, his first touch is the best in the league but his goalscoring isn’t what it used to be now. Sorry to say I don’t know too many Polish players through the years, just had a google and recognise these ones dudek, Lato, Koseci, Smolarek, Raashak, Tomaszewski (immortalised by Brian Clough in England as the ‘Clown’ goalkeeper who knocked England out of the 1974 world cup) Kazi Deyna (seem to remember him scoring for City against United) and the brilliant Boniek whom I remember playing for Juve against United back in the 70s. So Polaco, where do your footballing allegiances lie ? Cheers - Ole

| Rachel, Seen your post on another thread about where to head for………. There are no bars in the immediate vicinity of the Hyde Park Lane Apartments other than the bar at the complex itself and other nearby complexes. However, it’s less than 10 mins to the main strip and there’s a huge choice there. If you walk to to the strip / beach, Los Pocillos is to your left, this is a quieter area, turn right and walk along the front for the livelier areas. If you’re into Irish bars then there’s plenty further down the strip towards the Fariones Hotel (15 mins walk) and even more in the Old Town which is another 15 mins again. If you’re feeling lazy, then your apartment to the Old Town should be about 5 or 6 euros in a taxi. Ole
