Smile Requesting a second floor room

Hello

Id really like to stay in the second floor apartments with a balcony rather than ground floor with terrace. This may seem petty but does anyone know how i would get hold of the apartments to request this? We are traveling with Thomson and staying in a 2 bedroom apartment but not sure if they will charge us extra?

Sorry if this is pathetic but any help is welcome!

xx

Back in the Uk, I had a maisonette, that started on the 2nd floor. I loved it because I felt that it was more secure, and I was less likely to get borken into. I was able to leave my windows on the latch, and not worry. Not sure if that is the motivation for you... It may be because you want a better view... but anyway...

You really need to find some apartments that even have a second floor. there's a few about... but you won't get much higher than that because of the planning permissions here. Which is a good thing by the way. It stops Lanzarote from turning into Ibiza, or Tenerife.

Find apartments that fit... and then before you book... do a Google search to see if you can get their direct contact info. Then you can email or phone them direct. Of course - pop in here first and see if people can give you a good review of them too!

Good luck!

Elle xx

Hi Miche

Firstly-contact Thomson and request a 2nd floor apartment-shouldn't be any extra cost involved.

Secondly-you didn't mention the name of the apartments you have booked. But if you Google them you should manage to get direct contact details then email them and request what you want. Most places will oblige if it is possible.

We always request a 1st floor apt where we stay (Jable Bermudas), it's a tiny bit more effort getting in and out of the apt, but you get a much better view, you don't get the noise of people above you (especially moving furniture) and it's just that bit harder for unwanted guests to get into (burglars and raoches).
In case it's any use, 1st Floor in Spanish is "primera planta".

Thomsons should be able to take on your request, it’s not like you’re asking for the world. Cinco Plazas might actually be less able to do so because they probably don’t have your specific booking, it’ll just be a block Thomsons booking till they get the guest list which I think only happens a short while before your arrival (24hrs ?).
What I suggest is to make sure you’re first to check-in at Cinco Plazas from your plane. You could do this by getting one person to get in the Cinco Plazas reception queue whilst the other gets the cases off the coach, but I find the whole coach thing pretty awful anyway. If the taxi queue isn’t to long you could get a taxi from the airport (tell the rep first) for 10-15 euros, (or even hire a car (v. cheap)), and then you should hopefully get to the Cinco Plazas before everyone else. Then insist on a 1st floor room at reception (show them the Thomson request), then even if they’ve got you on the ground floor they should be able to switch you with someone else yet to check-in from your plane.
All a bit of a pain really, but worth it. I’ve done similar myself in the past, but learnt that if you’re comfortable with it, it’s easier to book direct.
BTW, Cinco Plazas is really nice, just a short walk from the main strip and beach. Should be great !

Cheers - Ole

Ah thanks for that ole, im going to take all that into account. In fact im going to try an be as sneaky as sitting at the front of the coach so im first off to get into the check in que! Ill try giving Thomsons a call too this afternoon and see what they can do for me, my boyfriend booked it though so he is the lead passenger, not sure what difference that will make.

I know to some people this request is so petty but i really want to enjoy my hol and having a second floor apt with balcony will add to it. Id hate to get there and be given a ground floor one and be disappointed all week!

Wink

Cinco Plaza are only ground and 1st floor so Robert was right in that there is no 2nd floor.

I had the same issue when staying across the road from your apartments at the Plaza Palmeras. We did email them despite booking with a TO and requested a 1st floor room....no problem and we got confirmation from them within 1 day :hyper
I couldn't see a website for Cinco but you can see some better pics on the 2 sites below.

If I find an email address from them I'll post a reply
